Medium hair is defined as hair length that does not extend beyond the lower edge of the collar in all uniformsand extends more than 1 inch from the scalp. This requirement does not apply to the patrol cap. Hairstyles otherwise authorized in this chapter such as braids and twists may also be worn in a pony tail during physical training. Soldiers may store headgear in the cargo pockets.
Bangs, if worn, may not fall below the eyebrows, may not interfere with the wear of all headgear, must lie neatly against the head, and not be visible underneath the front of the headgear. The coat has hook-and-loop fasteners for wearing the U.

If worn, it must have the same general appearance and fit as prescribed for the ACU. Males are prohibited from wearing wigs or hairpieces while in uniform, or in civilian clothes on duty, except to cover natural baldness or physical disfiguration caused by accident or medical procedure. The length and bulk of the hair may not be excessive and must present a neat and conservative appearance. No 6701- type of hair covering is authorized in lieu of the hairnet. In order to wear the cap properly, the bottom edge all of the cap may be folded, but not rolled.
Soldiers may sew on the U. Soldiers will not place hair holding devices in the hair for decorative purposes. Personnel will wear the approved flash of the unit to which they are assigned. Soldiers are authorized to wear the mandarin collar in the up position when wearing body armor or when weather conditions dictate the wear, as prescribed by the commander.
Such devices should conform to the natural shape of the head. When the cold-weather coat or other authorized cold-weather outer garments are worn, Soldiers may wear the olive green scarf and gloves, but are not required to do aar. Sideburns are hair grown in front of the ear and below the point where the top portion of the ear attaches to the head. When worn loose, such hairstyles must be worn per medium hair length guidelines or secured to the head in the same manner as described for medium or long length hair styles.
Personnel wear the sun qr straight on the head so that the web band creates a straight line around the head, parallel to the ground. The draw string on the sun hat can be worn under the chin, around the back of the head and neck, or tucked inside.
When stored, the headgear must be folded neatly and not present a bulky appearance. The combat uniform is authorized for year-round duty wear by Soldiers, when prescribed by the commander. The requirements for hair regulations are to maintain uniformity within a military population for female Soldiers while in uniform, or in civilian clothes on duty, unless otherwise specified.
The fabric of the FR combat uniform is 65 percent flame resistant rayon, 25 percent para-aramid and 10 percent nylon. Special Forces personnel will wear the approved flash of the unit to which they are assigned.
The commander will provide the hairnet at no cost to the Soldier.
Females may only wear clear 67011- when in uniform or while in civilian clothes on duty. The coat may also be worn inside the trousers when directed by the commander that is, when wearing the outer tactical vest, mission oriented protective posture gear, and so forth.
Sewn-on or pinned-on rank is worn on the sun hat.
AR Hair and Fingernail Standards and Grooming Policies –
For the purpose of these regulations, female hairstyles are organized into three basic categories: Tan or coyote in color 2. Females will comply with the cosmetics policy while in any military uniform or while in civilian clothes on duty.
Soldiers will not wear hydration systems in a garrison environment unless the commander has authorized it for one of the situations described above. See figs 3—1 and 3—2. Female hairstyles may not be eccentric or faddish and will present a conservative, professional appearance.
Faddish and exaggerated styles, to include shaved portions of the scalp ad than the neckline, designs cut in the hair, unsecured ponytails except during physical trainingand unbalanced or lopsided hairstyles are prohibited. Soldiers may wear the hood of the cold-weather coat at their option. Army tape, and grade insignia.
Do Your Boots Meet AR ?
Hair will be styled so as not to interfere with the proper wear of all uniform headgear. Xr extensions are not authorized unless medically prescribed. Hair holding devices are authorized only for the purpose of securing the hair.
The pony tail is not required to be worn above the collar.
