As a further confusion, some early machines of the Mk 2 and 2A type have been found with two locking screws on the cross slide, one at the front and another other at the back. Versions made in the middle years of production can be recognised by the use of die-cast handwheels still with wasp-tail handles and a red-silver-red badge.
